Caleborate is a rapper based in Berkeley, California, and creator of the label TBKTR. Growing up, Caleb lived in both Sacramento and in Pittsburgh, with mom and his dad respectively, but in 2011 he moved to the Bay Area. His most recent release, “1993” runs with a plot of sorts, which “depicts the state of things for many… twenty-somethings in the Bay Area (and in the world, really).” He talks about issues such as gentrification and his relationship with his dad with features from the likes of Cash Campaign and Cadence.
Lonny X is a self proclaimed “POP STAR AND A GENIUS” and member of Eco Tapes from Hartford, Connecticut. Delano put out his first tape, which he hated, titled “Blasphemous” when he was 15, and before that he wrote poetry. He is the founder of his label, Lazy Boy Records (not to be confused with the Indie label out of Virginia by the same name) and designs clothes for it. His debut tape, “SLEEP,” is a jazzy, nostalgic preview of what he can do musically, which he wrote when he was 16. Lonny frequently collaborates with producer Blvc Svnd, such as on tracks like “Same,” “Now You Know,” and “Sauce!”
Prada Mane is an emotional cloud rap artist from Brooklyn, New York. Most of his tracks are self-produced, sometimes under the alias “Ade&Nite.” He’s put out four tapes to date, and has a fifth, titled “Red Prada,” coming soon. Prada has sad yet uplifting lyrics, usually delivered by his autotuned voice. His collaborators include Little Pain, Yung Lean, and most recently Dylan Brady & Lil Shark. He doesn’t swear, so it’s safe to listen to him with your mom.
Spark Master Tape is a rather anonymous rapper “from the Deep Blue Sea” that is to say, no one has any idea what his background is. Most of his tracks are produced by a member of “Paper Platoon Deep Ocean Chapter,” (which is, from what we can tell, a collective of all different types of artists) who is also named Paper Platoon. He’s released 3 mixtapes to date, reemerging in January of this year after a two-year hiatus during which all of his social media was abandoned to hint at his newest tape, Shillouete of a Sunkken City. He masks his voice by pitching it down, like another one of our favorites, Lil Ugly Mane.
Cashy Kesh, often referred to as simply “Cashy,” is a rapper from Miami, FL. The 27 year old, Curtis Hughes, (born June 29, 1989) is the founder of VintageMOB, a vintage lifestyle brand. With two collaborative EPs with New York-based producer, Purpdogg, already under his belt, Cashy just finished touring Europe for his most recent release, “Supply & Demand” at the end of September.
Villa is a rapper from Atlanta, GA. Self-described as “dream rap” (and there’s really no better way to put it), his melodic lines combined commonly with Richie Souf’s beautiful, flowy beats take the listener to a dream-like place. His newest release, Fluorescent, follows up Vertical wonderfully, and, as always, is accompanied by extremely aesthetically pleasing visuals.
Osno1 is a Chicago/St. Louis singer and producer joining Dylan Brady in their duo, 100 Gecs and as a member of the St. Louis collective, HELLA. Osno1’s music is self-described as “alternative rock,” “emo,” and with the debut of 100 Gecs, “pop.” Their releases are similar to Brady’s in that they distinguish the artist’s style so well.
